The Vistor Method · By Mike Tawn · Published 2025

A project framework for the neurodivergent mind.

Six stages from dream to delivery, designed for how ADHD brains actually work. Visual planning. AI-powered admin. Dopamine by design.

The problem

Why your brain starts strong and fades.

You recognise the pattern. A notebook of brilliant ideas. A hard drive of half-built projects. The ability to see a finished product in your head before writing a line of code, and the inability, for the life of you, to finish it.

This is not a character flaw. It is neuroscience. ADHD brains produce weaker dopamine signals for distant, abstract rewards. The long middle of a project, the scope documents, the admin, the detail work, literally cannot generate enough motivational energy to pull you through.

Traditional project management was designed for neurotypical brains. Sprint ceremonies, Gantt charts, requirements documents, change control boards: every one optimised for consistent attention and tolerance for administrative detail. Exactly the things ADHD brains find hardest.

The Vistor Method is built around how your brain actually works, not how you wish it worked. Six stages, three pillars, zero guilt about being different.

Everyone has the ability to dream. Not everyone has the framework to deliver. The Vistor Method · Preface

The three pillars

What makes Vistor different.

Every feature traces back to one of three pillars, and every pillar is rooted in how ADHD brains process information, seek novelty, and respond to reward.

Pillar 01 · Visual

Visual Thinking

ADHD brains think in webs, not lines. The Vistor canvas is an infinite, zoomable workspace where every element lives as a node you can position, connect and rearrange. Spatial memory, visible relationships, the whole project at a glance. Cognitive accommodation, not a feature.

Pillar 02 · AI

AI-Powered Admin

The low-dopamine admin, scope docs, budgets, specs, task breakdowns, is exactly what your brain is wired to resist. Vistor delegates it to an AI assistant that understands your project. You describe, it documents. You decide, it writes. The creative energy stays with you.

Pillar 03 · Dopamine

Dopamine by Design

The Team Pulse system creates deliberate dopamine signals at every timescale: immediate task feedback, V-Sprint completion XP, custom rewards at milestone thresholds, and the long-term Journey bar. Rewards tied to outcomes, never activity. Gamification that actually drives completion.

The V-I-S-T-O-R pipeline · Dopamine by design

Six stages, one reward signal.

Every project rides the same dopamine curve, and so does your brain. Scroll the six stages and watch it track the signal: bright at the spark, dangerously quiet through scope, rebuilt by Team Pulse, and firing hardest at the payoff.

VVision
VVision

Everything begins with a feeling, not a requirements document. Capture the energy of the initial spark before it fades. Big-picture thinking is your native language, so the brain lights up. Get it onto the canvas before the 48-hour half-life runs out.

IIdeas

The creative explosion. Not what the project should include, but what it could. A 45-minute timed brainstorm, ideas connecting on the canvas, no filtering. Imagination is the superpower, and the reward signal is still running hot.

Effort10 to 15%Dopamine
SScope

The danger zone. Low-dopamine, high-detail work your brain is wired to resist, which is exactly where most projects die. Activity drops away. Vistor's answer is AI: you describe, it documents, one scope conversation at a time, with a visible finish line.

Effort15 to 20%Dopamine
TTasks

The engine room. Kanban flow, timelines, dependency mapping. Every completed task fires a Team Pulse reward, so the signal rebuilds. V-Sprints group work so completion always feels close. Sustained dopamine, delivered on purpose.

Effort40 to 50%Dopamine
OObjectives

The checkpoint. Testing, user feedback, gap analysis, sign-off. The deadline urgency your brain craves is now genuinely present, not manufactured, and focus sharpens for the final push.

EffortBuilt into TasksDopamine
RRealise

The payoff. Users see it, customers use it, it ships. Peak dopamine, the brain firing hardest. And Realise links straight to the next Vision, so completion becomes a gateway rather than a full stop.

Who it's for

If any of these sound like you.

Vistor works for any brain, but it was built for people who have tried every traditional framework and found themselves fighting the process instead of using it.

01

Founders & entrepreneurs

Three times more likely to start a business than the general population. Brilliant at ideas, less brilliant at finishing them. Vistor closes the gap.

02

Project managers

If sprint ceremonies feel like punishment and Gantt charts make your eyes glaze over, Vistor offers a visual, engaging alternative that still delivers.

03

Creatives & freelancers

Juggling multiple projects, losing track of commitments, struggling with the admin layer between brilliant work and actually billing for it.

04

Team leaders with ADHD

Or team leaders managing people with ADHD. Chapter 18 covers team dynamics specifically: how to play to the strengths, not the deficits.

05

Life-project planners

A wedding, a house move, a kitchen renovation, a career change, a book. Big life projects that overwhelm, not because they are hard, but because they are shapeless.

06

Neurotypical planners

You do not need ADHD to benefit. The framework works for all brains. It just happens to work especially well for ADHD ones.

Ten worked examples

Not just theory, applied.

Part II of the book walks the pipeline through ten complete, detailed scenarios. Read the one that matches your current project and start today.

Author
Mike Tawn
Founder · Xpertly Ltd

25+ years delivering enterprise business systems. ADHD practitioner. Built the Vistor Method from the scars of finishing projects that traditional frameworks said should have been easy.

Mike Tawn has spent a quarter of a century delivering complex ERP implementations for international clients across Microsoft Dynamics 365, JD Edwards, warehouse systems and financial integrations. The kind of projects where a missed detail in month two becomes a production outage in month twelve.

He has also spent that same quarter-century running an ADHD brain in a profession that rewards sustained attention and tolerance for administrative detail. The two facts are not unrelated. The Vistor Method grew out of the working toolkit Mike developed to finish things anyway: canvas-first planning, AI-delegated scope documents, built-in reward loops.

The book documents that toolkit in full, alongside the neuroscience that explains why it works and the worked examples that prove it scales from coffee shops to software launches. It is the project management book Mike wishes had existed when he started.
